GLOBALG.A.P. responds to Food Safety needs
GLOBALG.A.P. responds to Food Safety needs with the launch of the
Primary Farm Assurance (PFA) program.
Speakers and delegates at GLOBALG.A.P.’s recent event in Atlanta concluded that what was once just the standard for export is now positioned to become the growers’ standard of choice for food safety in the United States.
Speakers and delegates at GLOBALG.A.P.’s recent event in Atlanta concluded that what was once just the standard for export from the USA is now positioned to become the growers’ standard of choice for food safety in the United States. Farmers and growers can now opt for a food safety level only within the world’s largest and most trusted on farm food safety and sustainability program. PFA is a standalone program for food safety meeting the needs of U.S. farmers and major buyers in food service and retail.
Kristian Moeller, President of GLOBALG.A.P. North America Inc., said “The beauty of this approach is that growers can tackle pressing food safety requirements right now with the knowledge they have the support and back up of a globally recognized and trusted system that works practically on the farm be it large or small. It can also be used as a stepping stone for full GLOBALG.A.P compliance including sustainability elements as and when the grower is ready.”
As a consequence of the latest foodborne illnesses, speakers and delegates emphasized the need to find the right approach to anchor a strong food safety culture into every farm in the United States.
